How is Krav Maga different from other matrial arts?

Krav Maga is a reality-based tactical system that is efficient and easy to learn as techniques are based on the body’s natural movements.

Krav Maga includes tactical training and mental awareness that are often underdeveloped or absent from other ‘martial arts’ systems. Krav Maga covers pre-confrontation, pre-fight, fight, post-fight and post-confrontation elements of conflict, offering as much mental training as physical training.

Few, if any other martial arts can claim as much, and while no system is perfect, Krav Maga is used all over the world by military and law enforcement units because it has been street and battle tested in countless countries and proven time and again to be an effective solution to violence.

Due to its military roots, Krav Maga techniques need to be simple enough to learn quickly, yet effective enough to apply to real world conflicts. Unlike martial arts that have formal, traditional roots, Krav Maga is a system that is constantly updated to ensure each and every technique is appropriate for the modern world. Consequently, the system is tailored to fit civilian needs, providing solutions to violence and conflict encountered on the street or even in the home.

Is Active Krav Maga a Legitimate Krav Maga organisation?

Active Krav Maga is an affiliate of Krav Maga Global (KMG) which was founded in 2010 by Eyal Yanilov. Prior to this, the club was linked to the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) where Eyal was the Chief Instructor until he formed KMG.

How do I know if instructors are qualified?

Each Active Krav Maga instructor has attended and successfully passed the Krav Maga Global Instructors Course (GIC) and received diplomas as Civilian Instructors. In addition each instructor is qualified to BTEC level 3 in Self-Defence instruction and certified in First Aid for Martial Arts.
